Interdisciplinary research programmes

Many of the major programmes of research funded through the comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre have an interdisciplinary approach, harnessing our strengths across a number of different diseases and disciplines.

In 2008, we allocated £6.45 million to eight major programmes of research, known as Interdisciplinary Programmes.

These programmes, many of which span more than one of the research themes of the BRC, will lead to real advances in the clinical care delivered to our patients in the next few years, either through the development of new diagnostic tools or new medical treatments.
