Welcome to the South East London Consumer Research Panel for Cancer
The purpose of the group is to ensure active involvement of consumers in cancer research based partly or fully in South East London, in order to improve its quality and value.
The aims of the South East London Consumer Research Panel are as follows:
-
Be the consumer voice in the development, monitoring and evaluation of local and national cancer research projects undertaken in South East London
-
Act as a consumer advisory body to professionals and researchers wishing to generate research proposals for all areas of cancer research
-
Assist with the education of researchers, health care professionals, consumers and the general public about cancer research issues in cancer, supportive and palliative care
-
Engage fully with the local and national research community
-
Initiate research ideas and take these forward
Are you a researcher looking for patient and carer involvement in your research?
Here are a few ways we can help you and your research:
-
We can discuss your research ideas with you – to help you think about the patient experience of taking part in your study
-
We can review your research proposal – to highlight perceived risks and how to address these from a patient perspective
-
We can read your patient information sheets to ensure they are understandable
-
Identify potential patient concerns prior to submission to ethics
-
We can advise on how and where to communicate your research findings to the public
-
And we can undertake many other research related tasks and advise you on further patient involvement in your study
